Recap of our first talk

Before the start

For our first talk, Bert Ertman speaking about "Building Modular Java Applications in the Cloud Age", we could welcome 30 guests. This was quite a success after a slow start with the preregistrations. We understand that using XING for the preregistrations is not perfect, especially for our dutch and belgian guests. We will try and find another solution for the next talk.

After a short welcome and the raffle of five O’Reilly books between the preregistered guests, Bert delivered an excellent and packed talk with much live coding. His skills in building up a complete demo project from scratch while talking are amazing. The 90 minutes we had planned for the talk flew by, and we concluded the evening with some free drinks, accompanied by fruitful discussions with our guests and Bert himself. Finally, Bert had to leave for his 2-hour-drive home, and we could call it a (successful) day.

30 guests in the audience

We got many positive reactions from our guests, especially requests to establish a monthly meetup between the local Java enthusiasts, beside the bimonthly talks. We will look into that and make an offer shortly. We hope to attract as many people for our next talk on 2015-08-25, when Geertjan Wielenga, Product Manager for Netbeans at Oracle, will talk about Netbeans. The preregistration will start in some days.

Bert, thanks again for making our premiere event such a success. It was big fun listening to your talk!
